Conpleks is ready to release the CLARA app for field testing
On August 31, Conpleks completed the first phase of the CLARA app development project. CLARA is short for Clever Agricultural Robot App. The CLARA app is designed for operation and management of agricultural and field robots, especially robots for grass cutting and turf maintenance, mechanical weeding and animal feeding. However, the app also supports robots for sports applications, e.g. soccer field line marking.
The App is intended for use on rugged Android tablets, e.g. the Samsung Active Tab or the Toughshield T700 tablet, however it can operate on all recent Android tablets.

FIWARE
The CLARA app uses two FIWARE components, the KeyRock IdM GE and the Wilma PEP proxy for authentication purposes, e.g. user login handling with username and password.
The FIWARE platform provides a rather simple yet powerful set of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that ease the development of Smart Applications in multiple vertical sectors. The specifications of these APIs are public and royalty-free. Besides, an open source reference implementation of each of the FIWARE components is publicly available so that multiple FIWARE providers can emerge faster in the market with a low-cost proposition.
SmartAgriFood
The CLARA app development project has received funding from the FIWARE Accellerator SmartAgriFood 2 programme and the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme.
SmartAgriFood has selected 50 of the top European ICT SME’s and web entrepreneurs to develop smart applications and services for agriculture using FIWARE technologies following a European wide call that resulted in over 150 applications. Concentrating on the areas of arable farming, livestock farming and horticulture, the selected SME’s have now completed the first stage of the prototype development.
