SAM receives international awareness at Agritechnica

SAM, which means Safe Automated Mowing, is a unique software solution that turns remote controlled machinery into semi-autonomous robots. The solution was presented at Agritechnica in November and developed by Conpleks in cooperation with the two German companies NBB and AS-Motor.

No matter where Conpleks conducts a test drive of SAM, which is installed on AS-Motor’s AS 940 Sherpa slope mower, the machine becomes the center of attraction. Agritechnica was no exception. Visitors at the world’s leading exhibition of agricultural machinery held in Hanover showed both the machine and the videos of SAM in action huge interest.

– We have been looking forward to displaying the SAM solution at a large, international exhibition, as we believe that SAM can have a huge impact on operator tasks. First of all by reducing repetitive work and secondly by producing high quality results even in difficult terrain, emphasizes Tom Simonsen, CEO at Conpleks Robotech.

The German magazine for professionals in care of green areas, Flächen Manager, has published an article on the software solution SAM

Good ideas get easily support
The idea of adding a unique robot solution to already remote controlled machinery arose at Conpleks, and the idea was introduced at NBB Controls + Components, who produce remote controls for professional machinery. NBB immediately supported the idea, seeing it as a great opportunity to offer users of their remote controls a unique solution that cannot be found anywhere else.

A large part of the development process consists of testing the new solution, and therefore the task of finding a machine manufacturer that could supply the test machinery was crucial to NBB and Conpleks. Since NBB and the machine manufacturer AS-Motor are in a good collaboration on various remote control solutions, AS-Motor was invited to join in. Thus, the development trio was completed and they could begin working on SAM.

– We build our machines to last, and therefore we have to take the lead when it comes to new technology and implementing new solutions. With this in mind the decision to participate in the SAM project was straightforward. A strategy that paid off, as we now proudly can present an incomparable robot solution for our machinery, says Eberhard Lange, CEO at AS-Motor.
