Controller concept from Conpleks optimizes field irrigation

New controller system ensures simple, flexible and adjustable field irrigation

To achieve the most optimal field irrigation it is necessary to use zone irrigation. Zone irrigation makes it possible to adjust the applied amount of water on specific parts of the field according to irrigation needs and topography. Due to the new controller solution from Conpleks, Fasterholt is able to offer a new and unique way to manage zone irrigation on the go. The farmer can, through the included app, generate the zones while driving in the field.

One of Fasterholt’s main goals is to offer fleet management through the app, as the new solution enables the farmer to remotely set and monitor the irrigators. Based on this, Conpleks has made a large number of features that eliminates many trips to the field. For example, the farmer can use the app to start and stop the pumps and set a so-called early stop. Furthermore, it is possible to save irrigation routes and time consumptions in order to manage future irrigation and thereby plan the working day precisely. Another timesaving feature is that the app allows the farmer to see, whether the irrigator is finished, and to track its location through GPS positioning.

– It has taken me by surprise that the process has been quite extensive, as the solution is very simple. On the other hand, it is obviously due to the massive development and preparation work, the controller solution has become this straightforward. All in all, I am very satisfied. Actually, I am that satisfied that I want more. Now we have developed a controller and an app for managing several features, whereas the best monitoring system comes with the cloud solution, which is on its way, says Danny Hansen.

A future-proof solution

The controller concept is based on Conpleks’ software suite and thereby on the robot technology platform, the company has developed throughout the last decade. Thus, the solution is ROS based and furthermore distributed, CAN based and future-proof, which makes it adjustable to any need or desire, Fasterholt may have in the future. At the same time, the controller connects the irrigator to the app and cloud through mobile data and Wi-Fi.

The new controller is mounted on the irrigators that are being prepared for the 2023 season, and from that on it becomes a standard component on all Fasterholt irrigators.
