New knowledge on many levels

#WeInspireEachOther is the slogan for this year’s Manufacturing Festival that takes place online Thursday 22nd April from 13.00 to 16.30. The festival features the latest trends and possibilities among others within the production industry. At the same time, the Manufacturing festival creates casual surroundings for networking and knowledge sharing between companies, universities and students.

Digital and green transition together with management systems are the main topics for this year’s Manufacturing Festival. The topics are highlighted through presentations of the newest research and company cases focusing on different, already implemented solutions within the three topics.

– We, at Conpleks, participate in the festival to get more familiar with local companies, their projects and experiences. There is no reason why, we shouldn’t benefit from all the information and the great network that are available right outside our door, emphasizes Tom Simonsen, CEO at Conpleks.

Student integration

The yearly TBMI-Challenge is an integrated part of the festival, which brings students and companies closer together. The subject TBMI, Technological Business Model Innovation, is one of the core courses for students in the master’s degree program in technology-based business development at Aarhus University. Basically, the essence is to build or improve companies’ business models based on technology.

During the TBMI-Challenge the students are visiting companies all around the Western part of the Central Denmark Region to solve actual issues. To finalize the challenge, the students hand in a report that describes, how the companies can benefit from business opportunities and technologies. TBMI will be held for the fourth time in 2021.

– We have been a part of TBMI from the very beginning, and our anticipation is the same every year. With the students’ endeavor, the TBMI-Challenge gives us the opportunity to deeply investigate potential concepts and new business areas. Simultaneously, the students can test their theoretical skills on real issues and get a glimpse of, how a working day works, says Tom Simonsen.

Local support

The team behind the Manufacturing Festival is very satisfied with the great support and positive feedback they get every year from the participating companies. Based on that, they want to spread the word and get even more companies to join the initiative. This year, they have made a video to attract more participants, and therefore they have asked Tom Simonsen to talk about his great experiences with both the festival and TBMI.
